Gone are the days when cheap phones are said to be trash. Budget phones that you can buy on the market currently can compete with some of the bigger brands now. Rather than taking your 2-year-old flagship phone to the phone repair, why not see if the budget phones below suits you?

No.4 – iPhone 7

An apology upfront for Apple fans. But the iPhone 7, despite being affordable now, is already the great grandpa to the latest iPhone XS. It lacks the latest technology including FaceID and portrait camera, not to mention the older processor.

But if you love the “minimalistic” operation system of iOS, the iPhone 7 still reigns as the budget phone from the fruit company. You can still crush some candies and message your friend with the 7. But don’t expect to play PUBG without a lag.

The iPhone 8 is a great alternative to the 7 if you have a bit more to spend. You are still not getting facial unlock. At least you don’t have to deal with the huge notch while still enjoying the speedy processor, wireless charging and the numerous accessories from the familiar design.

No.3 – Nokia 7.1

You hear it right! Nokia is still making phones. And its 7.1 is rather good. Finally resorting to Android, the Nokia (still feels wrong) is snappy for its price. Being an Android One phone, it does not come with bloatware and enjoy speedy updates straight from Google. The dual-lens rear camera is also a rare find in the budget phone range.

The display of the 7.1 is also gorgeous with being large and bright. It also supports HDR10 for rich colour for your videos on Netflix and Amazon Prime. The USB Type-C charging port also meant you can bring one less cable when heading out.

No.2 – Moto G7 Plus

Motorola has been building great budget phone for quite a while. And the G7 Plus is one of their best. Affordable, well-built and reasonably functionable, the phone has a 6.2-inch screen while also still featuring a headphone jack for long-hour entertainment on the go. Also featuring a dual-lens camera, the photo quality of the G7 Plus is exceptional in its price range.

The phone spots a 3,000mAh battery with fast-charging enabled. You can gey 40% of battery within 15 minutes. The phone does not feel cheap in hand although being budget with glass on the front and back. Being a full screen phone, the very minimal notch is highly welcomed.

No.1 – Google Pixel 3a

The Pixel range from Google has been incredible since its launch. And the 3a, being the first less expensive option, does not feel downscaled from its pricier brother. The similar design and still amazing camera worth every extra penny for getting the phone.

Although it only has 64GB of storage without external SD slot for upgrade, the phone comes with free Google Photos storage. Considering most of the phones ran out of storage because of photos, Google’s way of cost-saving does not hurt much.

The 3a also comes with the at least 3 years of updates like other Pixel phones and a headphone jack. Other than wireless charging and waterproofing, you are not sacrificing much with the Pixel 3a.
