SEO for the Best Business Choices in Small Sectors
You were at the Chamber of Commerce a month ago and the first assignment has already arrived. Doing well. In the meantime, you wait for the smashing business cards of the printer to arrive and the website is also online. There is only one problem: you are not yet discoverable in Google.
With these five SEO tips, you as a starting entrepreneur become faster and easier to find in search engines. And before you know it, organic traffic is the most important source for new customers. With the small business seo you can get the best choices now and that also within the budget that you have.
Search engine optimization: a disclaimer
Being easy to find in search engines is always a challenge. Contrary to what some of my colleagues claim, there is no magic formula that ensures that you are in position 1 within a week.
Search engines are getting smarter and the time that you could fool Google with some tricks is (thankfully) over. You will have to write, test and optimize a lot before you actually see results.
In other words: good SEO requires blood, sweat and tears. But with the tips below you know exactly where to start.
Google My Business
With Google My Business you literally put your new business on the map. And that map is Google Maps to be precise.
From that moment on you can be found in Google Maps (also a search engine) and customers navigate effortlessly to your brand new store or office building. Even if you do not provide services from a fixed location or work at the customer’s location, I always recommend creating a GMB (= Google My Business).
Google Maps is not the only place where you are visible now. If a user types in your company name, a panel appears with all company details to the right of the search results. Your GMB will also be displayed for certain keywords.
In addition to creating and entering a profile, you do not have to do anything for this. That is why GMB is by far the fastest and easiest way to be found in Google.
Creating a GMB company profile is very simple:
- Create an account
- Verify your account
- Enter all name and address details
- Add some good images
State under “Services” which services or products you provide (not always possible) Ready.
In some cases, Google has already created a company profile. You have to claim it. That’s how you do that:
Search your company name in Google
- Do you see a GMB with your details? Then click on “Own this business?” And claim the company profile.
- Do you not see a profile? Then create a GMB via the above steps.
- Google My Business offers many options; too many to mention in this blog.
To help you on your way with a number of pro-tips:
Use the “Posts” option to share blogs and offers. These appear below your profile in the search results and people can click on them directly. Ask customers to leave a review. Reviews are an important signal to potential customers and show how reliable you are.
